Tutors / Relief Tutors / Volunteers In Music

Saturday Music provides affordable, accessible and high-quality music education for children aged 4 - 13 years (primary & intermediate school). Classes operate during the school term between March and November each year.

We're looking for new tutors and relief tutors to join our motivated and friendly team for 2024. The following positions are available:

  1. Tutors / relief tutors (for all instruments, especially drums, guitar, brass, woodwind and music basics). We are especially seeking tutors for French Horn, Trombone, and our Music Basics programme which is specifically targeted at children aged 4-6. More information on our classes can be found here.
  2. Conductors and assistants for our more advanced ensembles: Manawatū Training Orchestra, Manawatū Voices Choir, Recorder Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble and Kapa Haka ensemble. Information about these ensembles can be found here.
  3. Volunteers in music - assisting with logistics, teacher assistance, admin support. Ideal for high school students with interest in a future career in music and looking for opportunities to contribute to the community.

All applicants must have a passion and patience for teaching children, effective communication skills with students and parents, an interest in growing your teaching and management skills, and a commitment to sustaining a consistent music education programme throughout the year.

Experienced musicians preferred. Applicants must be 17 years or over (though younger volunteers are accepted!). Professional development provided. Appointments and tuition hours dependent on student enrolments.
