Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to another term of Saturday Music. The dates for this term are : October 29, November 5, 12, 19.

Concerts: The keyboard classes will have their concerts on the 12th of November. There will be four short concerts in the hall at Intermediate Normal School at your child's usual lesson time. Please come along and stay for the duration of the concert, which will be about 30 minutes. There will be no keyboard lessons on the 19th of November, to allow keyboard students to come to the final concert.

There will be three concerts for all other instruments on the 19th of November, at the Christian Community Church (54, Pascal Street); two in the morning and one in the evening. The first concert starts at 9:30 and feature guitars, cellos, brass, one representative keyboard item and a drum item, finishing at 10.15. In the second concert, which will run from 11:15 to 12:00 , the violins, clarinets, flutes, recorders, fifes and Music Basics children will perform. The Saturday Music orchestra will also play several pieces in both the concerts. Students in the first concert need to arrive at the CCC at 8:45, and students in the second concert at 10:30. Please ensure that your child is on time so they can meet their tutor for tuning and a short practice. Late students may not be able to play in the concert. To avoid congestion of the venue, please do not arrive earlier than 10:30 for the second concert.

We request that you stay for the duration of the concert, and do not leave or enter the auditorium part way through, as a courtesy and support to the students performing. Drinks for the children will be available free of charge, and tea/coffee for a donation. We should also appreciate a gold coin donation to help cover the cost of the venue.

In the evening, the Saturday Music orchestra will perform at the same venue, at 7 pm.If you are able to help out at our concerts, please see one of us at the front desk on Saturday mornings. Help would be appreciated with serving drinks, cleaning up, and as stage hands.

Instruments: If your child would like to hire his/her Saturday Music instrument over the summer holidays, you need to sign a summer hire form, and pay the hire fee of $25 before the concert. All Saturday Music instruments not hired for the holidays need to be returned straight after the final concert.

2012: You can now enrol for next year. Some of our rolls will be capped, so please enrol early to avoid disappointment. Online enrolment is now available on our website www.saturdaymusic.org.nz. To qualify for the discount, your enrolment must be in with payment by December 5th. For students heading into high school: local high schools operate a music scheme, or they may undertake tuition with a private music teacher.

Reports: Students' progress reports went out mid September. If this did not come home with your child, you can obtain a copy at the front desk.
